Who CGEDA is, and what we do
The Coastal Gateway Regional Economic Development Alliance's primary mission is to market and promote the assets of Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Escambia and Monroe counties and to support the retention and expansion of existing industry. Coastal Gateway is a partnership of city and county governments with progressive business leaders from utilities, financial institutions, and manufacturers committed to increasing economic vitality and quality of life for everyone in the region.
Our efforts go far beyond simply spreading the word about what economic assets there are to be found within our borders. We also help link our existing industry to the local, state, and federal resources that can assist in business productivity and advocate "barrier busting" to remove impediments to business profit.
The counties of the Coastal Gateway region are rural in nature, but have a history rich in industrial, economic and cultural diversity. From textiles to metals, automotive manufacturing to aerospace, to the agricultural and timber industries, our story is a complex one. It is, however, also one that counts many close ties not just between the cities and counties of CGEDA, but to our metropolitan neighbors both north and south as well.
Over the years, the people of these counties have crafted a life together that is worth sharing, not just with other local communities, but also with those from far outside the local region. On this site, you will find information that will be both useful in starting or expanding your business, while also learning about the cultural significance of the CGEDA region, its advantages and the characteristics that make it one of the most exciting business opportunities in all of the United States.
As its name implies, CGEDA can be your gateway toward a bright and prosperous future.
