With the future home of Airbus’ U.S. A320 Family assembly planned in nearby Mobile, the CGEDA area’s workforce will be educated and trained in a variety of aspects.

South Alabama in particular is home to 63 aviation, aircraft, and aerospace companies, including Muskogee Metal Works in Escambia County. Nearby Dale County is home to Fort Rucker and the Alabama Aviation Center, Alabama's largest aviation maintenance technology campus, and Auburn University's Samuel Ginn College of Engineering is the aerospace engineering campus for South and Central Alabama.
